Udder inflammation

In the example you see the data of our own cow with udder protrusion. The blue line, which shows the water intake, also shows when the temperature of the cow rises. This can be seen for this cow on September 18, 2024, around 00:00. On that day the cow was treated with a bolus. You can then see that the feeding activity of the cow increases, which indicates that the cow is becoming active again. After that the blue line decreases again.

Antibacterial effect

We wanted to know how well Allimax can stop bacteria from growing. So we tested two types of bacteria:

Staphylococcus aureus: a bacteria that can make cows sick. Escherichia coli: a bacteria that occurs in humans. We made different mixtures of Allimax, each time a little less strong. Then we added a little of the bacteria. We kept this warm for 18 hours, as warm as a body (37 degrees).

To see how many bacteria there were, we used a special substance. This substance will light up when bacteria grow. That light is created by fluorescence. Fluorescence means that some substances show a beautiful color of light when you shine blue or ultraviolet (UV) light on them.

We checked how much light there was every 30 minutes. We also checked how cloudy the mixture became, so we knew for sure that we could honestly measure how many bacteria were growing. Graph: (ppm=mg/L) (HRS=Hours)
